With the NFL season on the horizon, The Philadelphia Eagles look poised to make another playoff run with hopes of winning their second Super Bowl in three years. Many preseason rankings have them as one of the best teams in the league.
They remain favorites to win the NFC East – improving in both the passing and running games by bringing back Eagle legend wide receiver DeSean Jackson, and adding veteran running back Jordan Howard. The pressure is on Carson Wentz to stay healthy since St. Nick Foles will not be backing him up. This is now Wentz’s team and getting the birds back to the playoffs is on his shoulders.
With DeSean Jackson back in Philadelphia and Alshon Jeffery and Nelson Agholor in attack alongside Zach Ertz, Wentz has a host of talented receivers to choose from. His over/under for passing yards is 3,950, as long as he stays healthy, it is almost certain he hits the 4,000 passing yards with how easy it is for QB’s to make that mark in today’s pass-friendly NFL.
The offensive fire power, in addition to a defense coming off a 40 sack and 11 interception season last year, means it’s the Eagles division to lose. The defense is led by savvy veterans Fletcher Cox and Malcolm Jenkins, but early preseason thoughts have Sidney Jones to be the breakout star on the defense. Depleted with injuries last year, look for the defense to bounce back nicely.
While there are many prop bets you can take, none are juicier than the defense hitting the over on 10 interceptions. A talented, yet depleted Eagles’ defense hit that mark last season, so as long as they avoid the injury bug, they look poised to pass it this season.
It is always hard to predict the Super Bowl winner before the season, but the Eagles are +1300 to win the big game – fifth favorites to win the title. For a future bet, these are great odds, especially considering the roster is better than the team that made a run to the 2017 Super Bowl, and their leader, Carson Wentz, is coming back for a revenge season.
